Our store is located in Ballard, a Seattle neighborhood featured prominently on this 1899 map. Back then, Ballard was its own town. Some residents still lament Seattle's annexation of the community in 1907.

A Very Special Rhoda

We're calling this lovely shade of blue Lagoon. It's a supple, pebbled premium faux leather in a shade somewhere between teal and indigo.

The green and cream ribbon is special too. It's a store favorite, but has been sadly discontinued by the manufacturer. We have a few yards left - when it's gone, it's gone.

Haiti Fundraiser: Our Soda Pop Dahlias

I've been making these felt flower pins for a couple of weeks using some sweet little vintage buttons in my collection. The felt is made from 100% recycled soda bottles. Today I had a lightning bolt idea - why not sell them as a fundraiser to help those desperately in need in Haiti?

I shot off an email to the wonderful folks at Mercy Corps, a Portland relief non-profit. Can we partner up on this little project Yes, they wrote back, go for it.


So here we go! We are now offering these handmade Dahlias on our website for $12 each. We'll donate $10 for each flower sold to Mercy Corps' efforts in Haiti. We'll use the $2 left to ship the flowers to any US address, and to cover the credit card fees we incur.

I hoping you folks can help us reach our lofty goal of 200 flowers sold, made, and shipped by February 14th. That would be $2000 raised!

Mother's Day is second only to Christmas here in terms of how busy we get. I guess that makes sense since we have year-round visits from mothers and daughters who come in together to design bags.

I always enjoy seeing the special photographs that our customers bring us. From sweet new baby smiles, to nostalgic views of family events, each image has a story that makes it special.

This year we're adding several new custom photo items just in time for the holiday. Visit our website to see your options. You can place orders online, upload your images and set up shipment or request store pickup, all from your desk at home.
